Week 4 --- Almost 4 weeks in!

Squad this week has been one for the books!!! It started off with last Sunday's devotional with the Nashville Tribute Band, btw if you haven't heard their music, I strongly encourage you to listen to it right now. So they sang songs about our purpose as missionaries, and bore testimony, and it honestly my favorite devotional thus far. Oh and this week I was ballin so hard I tore a hole in my shoe, so that's cool. Oh my goodness, let me tell you, me and my companion are really starting to hit our stride! Spanish is coming along so well, these last 2 weeks we have been teaching this investigator named Daniel. He is seriously the coolest dude!!! Anyways after a few lessons, we could just tell he knew this gospel was true, and then this last Monday he bore testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon!!!! It was seriously the greatest thing I've ever heard!!! Or at least that's what I thought... That next Wednesday, he topped his previous statement. Me and my companion bore testimony towards the end of the lesson, and we were about to close, we had the feeling that we should ask him about baptism again, we had in the previous 2 lessons, but his response he doesn't know enough, or he doesn't feel ready, but this time, me and my companion after inviting him to baptism, we bore testimony that by showing faith in God, and being baptized, through the gift of the Holy Ghost and through obedience he can receive answers to his questions, after we bore testimony, he said to us " I know it's gonna be difficult but now I know it's something I need to do" and he committed to be baptized on the 10th of September! The feeling I received after hearing him say that, was honestly the greatest thing I've ever felt. This MTC experience has been so amazing! I have learned so much these past few weeks, it is amazing! Me and my companion can now converse and joke around is Spanish, and it is seriously the coolest thing! In Alma 26:12 it says in God's power we can do all things, and God works in us, and I know that is a big reason why we have been able to learn so much in our short time here in the MTC. Squad the gospel is true. I am in the midst of a very important work, so important that I must always serve with all my heart, might, mind, and strength. It truly is a privilege to be serving our Father in Heaven, because I know how important it is to bring people unto Christ. Our purpose as missionaries is to Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ, and his Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end, but more also, it is my job to invite myself to come unto Christ. I am here to help people come closer to Christ, but I also need to help myself grow closer to Christ. I love you all!!!!

So in these pictures you will see floral Friday, and the other is just a sweet squad pic because we all wore purple.

Note from Mom: Keaton had me send he and his companion matching floral ties for Elder Udall's birthday.

Week 3

Squad! Things are going super well for me right now!!! Me and companion are really starting to figure things out with this whole Spanish thing!!! This last Monday we got an investigator and we were told that he was real. So we have had three lessons with him, and he is a super chill guy, and you can just tell he wants to know about the gospel, and has a desire to become closer to Christ. He's a native Spanish speaker so he talks kinda fast if I'm being honest, and the crazy thing is I'm actually understanding him! Let me tell you the gift of tongues is real!! He is keeping all the commitments he makes with us, such as reading the Book of Mormon, praying to know it's true, and praying about baptism. During the lessons with him I feel the spirit so strong, even though I don't understand a lot of what he says, especially during his prayers, I know he feels the spirit, and I know he has a desire to learn. So we play soccer pretty much every day and apparently I don't suck completely, because I have been given the name "The Jorgy Wall" because I'm the best defensive player in the game! People also call me Jorgé so that's cool! Oh also if anyone wanted to send a package, just so you know my room has plenty of candy, I'm trying to keep a figure here, and people are making it difficult... I'm just playing, but things really are going good here. Oh and me and my companion got callings in our zone!!! We are the online coordinators! We honestly don't do that much with the calling, but it is the most important calling in the zone, I think, but probably not, any way if anyone wanted to send me letters I wouldn't mind it's nice to get those kinda things, well that's all I got for you today! Love you all, keep on keeping on!

Yeah our district is pretty grand with ping pong and all, and the other pic is batman (The Elder's name is actually Elder Batman no joke) fighting el Luchador

Week 2

#Group #10daysin

Well squad, it's been 10 days since I arrived at the MTC, and let me tell you it was pretty crazy trying to adjust. My district is so bomb, I'm not gonna lie, it is a fine group of gents. My companion is Elder Udall, he's from Arizona, and he is a swell dude. It is crazy how much I've changed since I got here, in only 10 days! I never really had a problem reading my scriptures, but now I find myself getting lost in them, in the last 4 days I got through 1st and 2nd Nephi, and for those who know me pretty well, that's impressive, because I am not a big reader. It's so amazing how well the gospel can bring people together, I already feel like the Elders in my district are my closest friends. I'm gonna be honest I'm doing pretty well with Spanish, I promise you all I will be fluent in a week, but we also had to teach "investigators" in Spanish which was kinda difficult if I'm being honest. Anyways so far all is well, and I'm so grateful to be here preparing to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Love you all, Elder Jorgensen

Mission Farewell Talk and MTC

Sunday, July 31, 2016

Keaton spoke in Sacrament Meeting today.  There were a lot of people in attendance and I'm sure there were a lot I didn't have a chance to talk to.  Quite a few people came over to the house for sandwiches and cookies.  A big shout out to the Baugh and Courtright families for helping out!

Keaton was set apart at 5:00 p.m. by the Stake President, Jody Cox (who also happens to be my second cousin).  Grandma and Bishop Pratt were also at our home.  After President Cox and Bishop Pratt left, we all hopped in the car and headed to Draper where we stayed with my sister, Holly.  On Wednesday morning, Holly took Grandma to LDS hospital where she underwent surgery.  Aaron and I took Keaton to breakfast at IHOP in Orem (we saw several pre-MTC missionaries at the restaurant).  After we dropped Keaton off, we headed to the hospital (with tears running down my face) and spent the rest of the day there.
