Week 56 --- Beefy Hanes

SQUAD!!!!!!!!!!!! Soooooooooo I hope you are all doing good. If not, you need to change that. So I`m gonna let yall know what happened this last week. It was pretty darn good not gonna lie. So I begin explaining my title, I know it`s a little weird, but so was the event that happened that caused me to put this title. So the other day we were just knockin doors ya know, typical missionary stuff, and we come to this one house, and we both felt this strong impression to knock this house. So we did, and a dude comes outside wearing only his beefy hanes, and if you don`t understand what beefy hanes are, figure it out.

Also the other day we had a dog follow us for an entire day, then when we woke up the next day, it had waited outside our pension for us. It spent the whole night outside in the cold waiting for us. We named him Craig.

Also one day we were walking through a sketchy neighborhood, and we found this kid we knew, who wasn`t a member but he plays soccer with our ward every thursday, so we met him, so we stopped and talked to him, and he was running like a fruit and vegetable stand, and I saw a few peppers that were very appealing to me, so we bought some, and last night we ate them, and I can honestly say it was the hottest thing I have ever put in my mouth. It messed up my body not gonna lie, I'm not sure why I did it, but it was fun.

Also Saturday we did exchanges, and I had the grand privilege to work with Elder Crist. He`s a good guy. and night we bought 8 kilos of ice cream, for 6 elders that were there and we ate it all. The reason there were 6 elders there was because the next morning we had a special stake conference, so we all had to be at the stake center, it was a broadcast to Argentina Uruguay and Paraguay, and we heard from Elder Rasband, and 2  from the seventy, and a lady from the presidency of the Primary. It was really good. One talk that I really liked was from the lady from the Primary presidency, she talked about when she was a kid they had a garden and they planted a lot of stuff there, and one day she asked her dad why there wasn't any strawberries, and he answered because we didn't plant any. She then explained how many times we have this question, why don't I have this, but many times the reason is because we didn't put in the work for it. For example, everyday I pray that we can find new people to teach, but if I don`t go outside and knock doors, and talk to people, God really can't answer that prayer. So just make sure when we ask God for something that we always work to receive the answer.

Now some spiritual stuff, so 2 weeks ago, we found some old teaching records of a family, and reading over the notes they seemed really good, so we decided to go find them, but when we got to the address it turns out the address that was written on the teaching record was wrong, so we didn't find them, until last week. When we were contacting a few people we had been a few days earlier, and we walked up to one of the houses ready to knock, but then we just both decided not to, so we walked around the corner and ran into a kid that we had met before, not a member, and he invited us to his house to talk to his family, and so we did, and it turns out it was the family we were looking for the week before. What a blessing, if we had knocked the first house, this kid would have already gotten to his house, and we probably would have never found this family.

Well that`s what I got to share this wonderful Monday morning, so I'm gonna leave you all with a scripture, or scriptures I should say Hebrews 11, please read it, it`s a good chapter.

1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
12 Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.
21 By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff.
22 By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.
23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.
24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter;
25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.
27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
28 Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
29 By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.
30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.
31 By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.
32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

As you can see faith is kinda important. Well bye!

Week 55 --- Just like home

SQUAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sooooo I have made it another week here in the mission, still goin strong, and well I did some stuff this week so I´m gonna share a bit. I´ll just start out explaining the title. So recently I have had to make a couple trips to the dentist, I had to get a flippin root canal, que porqueria, anyways this last Thursday, I had to go for the last time just to finish up a few things, and we had to go into Mendoza Centro, so we had to cancel lunch, and there was this place in Centro called Fidelito's, and it´s not open on Monday so I never had the chance to eat there, and I was told that this place is like too American, and the food was just too good, asi que, we decided to go there after the dentist to eat, and let me tell you, the first thing I saw when I walked in was a dude that just looked way American, and then he starts chattin with us in English, cuz he´s from California, and he runs this place. So we sit down and he takes our order, and they we just start talkin about America, it was so refreshing, and let me tell ya, the food from this place was for sure the best food I have eatin my entire mission, I got a bacon burger and some wings, and it tasted American.  I was pretty darn happy. I honestly felt like I was in America.

So last night a family in our ward invited us over to do a family home evening with them, so we went over we played some games, and for the last 30 or 40 minutes the kids just wanted to do arm wrestles. Just so y’all know, I went undefeated, my comp not so much, lost to a 15 year old, but he was like crazy strong, it was weird.

So that´s all I got for y’all this week, so I´m gonna end with something spiritual, so we start in 1 Nephi 3:11-13 when it is explaining how Nephi and his brothers tried to get the plates from Laban.

11 And we cast lots—who of us should go in unto the house of Laban. And it came to pass that the lot fell upon Laman; and Laman went in unto the house of Laban, and he talked with him as he sat in his house.
12 And he desired of Laban the records which were engraven upon the plates of brass, which contained the genealogy of my father.
13 And behold, it came to pass that Laban was angry, and thrust him out from his presence; and he would not that he should have the records. Wherefore, he said unto him: Behold thou art a robber, and I will slay thee.

So we see here, that when we try to do things not following the spirit, we usually don´t have the best of luck.
Then we read 1 Nephi 4:6:

And I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do.

And what happens next? Laban was delivered into the hands of Nephi, and he was able to obtain the plates.

I cannot express enough the importance of following the Spirit. It will always lead us to do what´s right. Sometimes it may be a little difficult to follow the spirit, sometimes it may tell us to do things that may seem a little strange, but you got to have the faith, that you are being guided to do what’s right.  Our old mission president once said "Faith makes you do things that sometimes don´t seem logical" For example in the story of Nephi, he was told by the spirit to kill Laban, obviously it seemed a little weird to him, but it was the only way he would obtain the plates. So follow the SPIRIT!!

That´s all I got, bye!!!!!!!

Week 54 --- Transfers boi!

SQUAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So it`s a new transfer right, and well Elder Gato left, and I`m stayin here in Rodeo del Medio, with ma boi Elder Ransil, we have the same time in the mish, so it will be cool working with an experienced missionary again. So I know that I`m writing a day late but it`s not my fault, recently we had a lot of changes in our mission, and well usually we do transfers Tuesday, but we did them yesterday, so today is our P-Day, Now that the transfer has ended I can admit that was the hardest transfer of my whole mission.  With comp troubles, the work was a struggle; I`m just really grateful that my Father in Heaven helped me just keep on goin.

So like I said there were quite a bit of changes in the mission, so I`m gonna share what happened.  Well, first off 7 new zones were made, and before the zone leaders were a companionship, but now it´s only one zone leader for every zone, and maybe the best news I`ve heard in a while, we will be receiving a little more money each month, so I`m pretty stoked.

So despite the fact that it hasn’t been the greatest transfer, we were able to end on a decent note. We received a lot of references and so last week we contacted a lot of them, and one of the references didn’t have an address, so the member that gave us the reference said to stop by her house, and she would come with us to the lesson.  Usually it`s so hard to get people to let us in, but with this member she walked up banged on the door, and yelled "let me in" and she let us in, it was like too easy. I thought it was funny, I wish it worked like that always. Anyways we went in, and taught a pretty sick lesson not gonna lie.

To end I´m gonna share a bit from D&C, section 121 verses 7 and 8:

7 My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment;

8 And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes.

I truly have experienced this in my life, and even more so during the mission, I testify that if we endure the trials we have, while trusting in God, we will have strength to overcome all opposition.

That`s all I got this week, I love you all bye!!!!!!!!!!

Week 53 --- I got nothin...

Squad! I`m so sorry, but honestly this week has come and gone so fast, and not a lot happened, but I'll share a little anyways. Well I celebrated my year mark by performing the sacred ritual of the shirt burning, so that was cool, I will send a picture of that. ha yeah I'm not gonna send it because this computer won`t let me.

Also we had 2 activities in our ward this week, one of them was just to go chill and play games and stuff, and the Bishop told us to go, because he was gonna bring some non member friends to meet us, so we went and well he said he was gonna get there a little late, so we waited a little bit, and well he never showed up, and we had to return to the pension, so that was kinda sad, but when we were waiting I played some ping pong, and frick let me tell ya I am pretty darn good at ping pong, went undefeated.

The other activity was a capilla abierta, which is like a open house for the church, and the purpose of this activity was to invite people in to get to know our church a little, and let me tell ya it started out rough... So I just offered up a little prayer, because the members had worked so hard for the activity, and almost instantly like everything changed, we had 4 other Elders show up that said they weren't gonna be able to, and they just started talking to a ton of people in the streets and brought in a lot of investigators, at the end we had received over 60 references..

Oh also the guy that owns the place where we are writing loves to talk in English and he`s making jokes with all the gringos and hugging us saying it`s a joke it's a joke, it`s really funny.

To end Alma 36:3 my boy Elder Diaz just shared it with me:

And now, O my son Helaman, behold, thou art in thy youth, and therefore, I beseech of thee that thou wilt hear my words and learn of me; for I do know that whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be lifted up at the last day.

I testify of that, to overcome trials we must put our trust in God, I have experienced this a lot during the mission, I invite you all to always put your trust in God.

That`s all I got Bye!!
